Hydrogren Sulfide Pollution Affects Families and Community
Resolution Law Group represents a group of families in this case against IBP, Inc., one of the largest beef-processing facilities in the country. Residents of the Dakota City and South Sioux City, Nebraska communities have been regularly exposed to dangerous levels of pollutants, including hydrogen sulfide, for years. Hydrogen sulfide, a gas which can be lethal in high doses, and has a characteristic rotten-egg odor, is generated in large quantities by IBP’s wastewater treatment plant and regularly invades the homes of nearby residents.
Resolution Law Group is working together with co-counsel in Nebraska seeking to ensure that IBP undertakes appropriate measures to control its releases of hydrogen sulfide, and to obtain appropriate compensation for the health and property damages suffered by the residents.

Planned Casino Threatens Air Quality
Resolution Law Group represented the City and County of Milwaukee in a suit alleging that the federal government violated the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) by failing to prepare an adequate Environmental Impact Statement for a proposed casino project. The City and County of Milwaukee, are located in an area of severe ozone nonattainment, and were concerned about the adverse effects the added vehicular emissions from the casino traffic would have on their air quality.
Several months after the lawsuit was filed, the casino application was withdrawn, ensuring that the air quality would not be further harmed by this proposed project. The Forest County Potawatomi Community was also a plaintiff in that suit, and Resolution Law Group worked closely with lawyers for the Potawatomi to achieve an appropriate resolution to the case.

Redevelopment Property Contaminated by Adjacent Oil-Handling Facility
Resolution Law Group represents a mortgage holder in New York City seeking to redevelop industrial property. In a citizen suit under RCRA, Superfund and State nuisance laws, along with co-counsel, we are seeking cleanup and reimbursement of response costs for soil and groundwater contamination caused by an adjacent waste oil handling facility. In addition to the owners and operators of the oil-handling facility, we are identifying and pursuing numerous generators of the waste oil disposed of at the site.
